Switched the blog database to MySQL 5.0. So far, so good!
I just upgraded the blog software to WordPress 2.3.3 and had numerous problems, none of which are attributed to WordPress. The problems are the site reconfiguration for the blog. The MySQL database was incorrect because a third-level domain was deleted on the server. The blog address will now be salzer.us/blog and salzerblog.com will point to salzer.us/blog. The previous template was not loaded so that’s another issue to handle. I have to prune the roses now and will config later today!
I’ve been playing with CSS and made a couple of goofs so please no comments at this time on the layout and color choices. I’m learning!
Blog development will be suspended while we cruise the Mediterranean and the Atlantic aboard Oceania Regatta. We’ll have (expensive!) Internet connect time so we’ll get email and little else. We’ll hopefully have fair weather and take many beautiful pictures.
Blog development is going slowly while I’m learning php, style sheets and XHTML a little most every day. I’ve installed Apache, PHP and MySQL so now have a local WAMP configuration.
I thought I’d see what happens when an image is uploaded.
I’ve been reviewing the code of various themes, CSS and php to begin the modification of the default theme to create an individual theme for this blog.
I’ve added a link category, “Blogroll”, currently intended to contain links to other Salzer blogs.
A blog is born! I’ve just begun creating this blog, currently entitled “Salzer”. There’s so much to consider as I’m a newbie blogger.
The presentation and likely the title will be changed as this blog is developed. It’s beginning with the WordPress installation default theme. There are many themes available from which to choose or modify.
All constructive criticism is encouraged.
